Behind the Glamour: The Stories Behind Celebrities' Luxury Watch Collections

CLASSIC

Winner of Best Actor in a Drama, Cillian Murphy wore a traditional black tuxedo without a bow tie. His choice of wristwear added a pop of color: a sophisticated 40mm Sedna gold Omega De Ville Trésor with a tiny seconds display and a domed burgundy dial. It is driven by the Sedna gold balance bridge and Omega's Calibre 8927 Master Chronometer with Co-Axial escapement. Murphy, incidentally, does excellent playlists; check them out on YouTube.

Wearing a deep burgundy double-breasted suit, black dress shirt, matching tie, and a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph on his wrist, Robert Downey Jr. looked dapper. The exquisite pink gold timepiece, which was unveiled in honor of JLC's 190th anniversary, has a classic black dial on the front and a central chronograph display on the back that reveals the manual-winding Calibre 860.

Simu Liu brought a different type of Kenergy to the red carpet, dressed in a deep blue tux with leather lapels and a beautiful Vacheron Constantin Patrimony model on his wrist. The retrograde Day-Date in rose gold is a timeless dress watch from the age-old watch brand with a stunning midnight blue dial that you’ll never tire of looking at. It’s equipped with Vacheron Constantin’s Calibre 2460, with a full-sized, skeletonised rotor visible through the exhibition caseback.

SPORTY

He may have lost to Cillian Murphy, but Bradley Cooper was on point style-wise in a double-breasted black tuxedo with satin peak lapels and a steel Louis Vuitton Tambour Automatic on his wrist. The watch, powered by the Maison’s first in-house LFT023 self-winding movement with a micro-rotor, is a slim luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet. It’s casually elegant but slim enough to fit easily under a shirt cuff. The tone-on-tone blue dial adds just a hint of colour to Cooper’s black-tie look.

After Succession actor and brother of Macaulay, Kieran Culkin, jokingly told Pedro Pascal, “Suck it, Pedro! Sorry. Mine!” (referring to his trophy) he flashed the new TAG Heuer Carrera Automatic Chronograph with glassbox display on his wrist. The 39mm watch was released last year for the 60th anniversary of the Carrera. Based on the reverse panda Ref. 2447 NS, the design offers a 21st-century take on the Carrera with a calfskin driving strap.

STUNNING BLING

Selena Gomez looked stunning in red from Armani Privé, but what really stood out was the glitter on her fingers, earrings, and wrists. Along with her Bulgari ensemble, she wore a white gold Serpenti Jewellery watch (Ref. 101796) with a mother-of-pearl dial and a double spiral. The watch is driven by a high-precision quartz movement and has diamonds placed throughout, including the hour indexes and strap.

However, the bling isn't exclusive for women. Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner were seen wearing a white gold, limited-edition Cartier Crash watch with a teardrop-link bracelet. A total of 471 diamonds, weighing 4.27 carats, are placed into the case, bracelet, and crown. With its silver opaline dial and manual winding Calibre 8970, it is undoubtedly appropriate for both Jenner and Chalamet. And we average people think it's good enough if it works for them.

Barry Keoghan (of Eternals and Saltburn) looked incredibly stylish wearing a mid-sized Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra with a complete Sedna gold case and bracelet, paired with a Louis Vuitton red purse. Both the watch bezel and dial are diamond-set, with the latter featuring 498 stones in a snow setting. Marquise-cut rubies serve as the hour markings. The watch has an automatic Calibre 8807 with a 55-hour power reserve that is Master Chronometer certified. It is glamorous but subtle. It's yet another fantastic illustration of a gem-set watch that is suitable for both sexes.
